The Shed

Known For
Red chile plates in a courtyard-set adobe that Santa Fe keeps returning to
The Shed occupies a historic Downtown Santa Fe courtyard with garden vibes and a bright, instagrammable interior that has made it an institution. It's a local favorite where the red chile is as much the draw as the setting.
🕐Best time to visit: September lunches when the courtyard garden is at full color
Our Take
The Shed hides inside a 17th-century adobe compound on Palace Avenue, and the red chile enchiladas served in those low-ceilinged rooms have been a Santa Fe ritual since 1953 — the garden courtyard seating makes the people-watching genuinely excellent. It's a solid charming spot with real history behind it, though the well-known name means the line on weekends can test your patience.
