Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is anchored by one of the most photogenic features in northeast Florida — a coquina rock garden along the shoreline that looks like it belongs in Iceland, not between St. Augustine and Daytona. It's a legitimate scenic destination hiding behind a modest state park entrance fee, and the formal rose gardens on the inland side are a whole different kind of beautiful.
